AdSpyre Launches MidADdle Ad System

Internet Marketing company AdSypre has announced the beta launch of its MidADdle keyword targeted ad system. The system, similar to Claria and WhenU, works once a user has downloaded and opted into the system. The system tracks online behavior matching user keywords in user-entered URLs, web page forms, search forms and click-through destinations which are then mapped against advertiser keywords generating targeted ad delivery. The ad appears as a between-page unit and is presented to the user upon identification by system as they progress from one page to the next. The user can choose to click on the ad, view it for ten seconds or skip it. If the ad is clicked, the user is delivered to the advertiser's site.

MidADdle joins a growing list of companies pushing privacy barriers but maximizing advertiser return by matching advertiser messages with user behavior. MidADdle taps a database of five million users who have downloaded game/utility software and opted into the system. While MidADdle may achieve effective behavioral/demographic database targeting without pop ups, it may still face privacy challenges both from users and from sites who may view the between-page style ad delivery similar to legally-challenged pop ups.

UPDATE I: Steer very clear of this software. See the comment section for the hovoc it has caused for many people.

UPDATE II: An apparent solution from Comments: 'i finly got rid of this thing all you have to do is use add/remove programs to uninstall it but the trick is to make sure you eather are disconected from the internet or are running a strict firewall because when uninstalling the program it seems to try to contact the sight to reinstall itself'

Explaining the site's name, Strategiy CEO Farhat Rana said, "One cannot go far by merely copying others. To make a mark in business, you have to put individualism into your strategy. In other words, to excel in your profession, you have to put the 'I' in your strategy." Sounds like he missed the whole e-whatever dot com fiasco.

Virginia Billboard Campaign Asks Men Not to Have Sex With Young Girls

To combat what appears to be rampant sex between men and young old girls - 219 births among 13 and 14 years old girls from men over 18 in 1999 and 2000, the Virginia Department of Health has launched a statewide billboard campaign telling men to keep it in their pants. With headlines, "Isn't She A Little Young?" and "Sex With A Minor, Don't Go There" the campaign also appears on posters, coasters and napkins in bars - the likely hangout for these sexaholic men who seem to be incapable of getting it on with women their own age.

If anyone has pictures of the actual billboards, you simply must send them to tips at adrants dot com. Images courtesy of Jamie Rubin.

Weblogs Reach Desirable Target Audiences

Contrary to popular belief and no proven by a study, webloggers and those who read then are not all teenage girls whining about their boyfriends. A recent study by BlogAds (in which Adrants participated) of 17,159 blog site visitors found 61 percent are over the age of 30 and 40 percent have households incomes of $90K or above. Clearly not an audience advertisers should ignore.

BlogAds Founder Henry Copeland says, "The impression has been that the typical blog reader is a college student with an entry-level job, and therefore not an incredibly desirable demographic unless you're trying to sell beer." This study counters that line of thinking and will perhaps wake up big advertisers to the world of weblogs as a viable advertising medium.
