Restaurant Chain Marketed With Chili Freaks

chilicheese.gif

In the just plain weird category, Southeastern restaurant chain Krystal is promoting its line of Chili Cheese items with a cheesy promotion called "Chili-Cheesification." The promotion includes a series of "copy free" television commercials and a special Chili-Cheesification website, featuring "Krystal Lovers" who are so insanely in love with Krystal and its chili, they have slathered themselves in chili for the the greater good or marketing. On the website, you can watch videos of these "Krystal Lovers" showing their love for chili with a chili slip and slide, a chili-filled pool and a game of chili twister.

Yeah, looks like they are sliding around in feces.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this looks like ...dookie. Who looks at this and thinks, "Yum, I've gotta get me some chili"? I take photos of food all the time, and there are certain things that just look like poop, puke, etc, especially in photos. (a delicious beef stroganoff can look like vomit if the colors are off; black cherry yogurt looks like a crime scene) You don't take photos of those, or of people covered in them!

I feel compelled to quote my parents: "There are children starving in Africa." This ad is obsence because it is wasteful and therefore disrespectful -- just the traits that feed the world's disdain for Americans.
I have a better idea. How about if the chili used as props was instead given to a shelter for homeless or abused kids. Better to show true American spirit.

You want to give Krystal's prop chili away to abused kids and homeless people? Thats a great idea! And while we are all on the bus, why not take those same marketing funds to pay for an obesity program in schools?

Wow Melinda, I find that you are also disrespectful to rant about how a corporate entity such as Krystal should or should not handle their product. How did it become any of your business? Thats the "American spirit"? LOL Were your parents Russian immigrants?

If abused kids and homeless peeps want Krystal prop chili, shouldnt it be their responsibility to hang out by the appropriate dumpster? I think Melinda Hemmelgarn needs a big helping of shut the hell up.
