Sally Hogshead, Nancy Vonk Take on Neil French

A couple weeks ago, Talent Zoo launched The Naked Career, a podcast interview series hosted by Sally Hogshead. This week, Sally's guest will be Nancy Vonk, the woman who took on Neil French after his less than kind comment about women in advertising. Without a male in the mix, it's sure to be a man bashing podcast but let's hope common sense prevails.

The two will explore how men and women are better at certain things, the apparent lack of female leadership in advertising, how childcare fits into the picture, sexism in the workplace and how women can be more successful in both career and motherhood. The podcast will release November 2.

Because without women in the mix, men are always women-bashing?

Sally Hogshead is more overexposed than Britney Spears' breasts. Give it a rest already.

OK, Rob, maybe my statement was a bit harsh. A poor attempt at going for humor. Point taken. I'm listening to the podcast right now and so far, so good.

Yawn.
Wake me when it's over.

Was that a high-pitched whine I heard in the recording? ;-)

No, really. Seemed to be a bit of an amateur recording (noise, strange edit at the end, no outro), but the content is not bad - I don't think there are any revelations in this discussion, but it certainly doesn't hurt to address the situation.

French's comments represent and contribute to a true imbalance in the industry (one that you just might not be aware of if you are not among the group affected by it - in other words, a man).

As a result of their conversation, now there can at least be a dialogue about what appears to be a surprising lack of opportunity for women in advertising and the psychology behind it. It's an uncomfortable subject... Sally Hogshead and Nancy Vonk handled it with tact and candor.
