Mom Gets Cold, Kid Yells, Mom Yells, Medicine Advertised

This commercial for Vicks, which appears to come from the U.K, is just weird. For the first half of the commercial, it plays like a normal, boring over the counter cold medication ad. In the second half, it turns into an odd twist on the old kid freaking out in the grocery store theme. Indeed, a strange combination. The word "disjointed" comes to mind but we still get a kick out if it. What do you think?

I have a kid, and I can't handle parents who let their brat kids get away with crap like this. So I like this spot. Otherwise it's just another TV Spot. Cute, funny. Nothing earth shattering.

I like it - far better than the average 'medical' advertisements, nice twist. Seen it on TV and it intrigued me enough to stop the fast forward, so it is doing something right.

Funnier than cancer.

Typical of too many commercials. I have a really funny idea, so lets work it into this spot, even though it will do nothing to help sell the product. Too many frustrated sitcom writers out there.

great parallel. attack is the best form of defense refers to the medication but also her kids behavior. nice ad.

this ad feels like the outcome of an internal struggle between the agency on the one hand, trying to get creative, and the client on the other, trying to get the functional message across. I guess the compromise was to cut it down the middle
