Czech Apple Store Hotter Than American

ipod_czech.jpg

One Adrants reader - and Apple employee - sent us this link to the Czech Apple Store and wonders why the American Apple store can't be as racy and alluring. Well, we have the answer. It's this thing called political correctness. Heaven forbid the American Association of Woman Against Bikinis Blatantly Plastered on Websites As Eye Candy group sees this and gives Apple a call.

Anyone remember Bill Hicks' perfect commercial?

Where are the headphones? Ewwww....

Again, you ad thickheads poking fun at issues you probably don't know much about. Political correctness is essential in order to slap you pubescent shortsighted airheads on your very tired wrists (and it's not not from the mouse clicking).

Wise up ok before you throw out those seemingly innocent "god forbid" comments as if you can't believe women would ever want equality.

Right on, Roy. Extremely well said.

Roy. It's called humor. Just go with it. Oh wait, you were being funny too:-)

And yea, Mo Pon...I didn't think of that....gross

Probably nothing to do with "political correctness", it is more likely a reflection of our more litigious society. According to the clerks at my local Apple Store, most of the damage to iPods (especially those skinny Nanos) occurs when the owner forgets the device is in their back pocket and sits on it. Just imagine someone taking this photo to a lawyer and using to demand a replacement for their broken iPod, and you'll understand why this image won't appear on the subway anytime soon.

re: equality
I'd be fine if there was a man in a Speedo in addition to the woman in a bikini.

Posted by: Courtney on August 10, 2006 3:53 PM

oh come on, females, in general, are more attractive than males, to any consumer, provided they be fit. men (most) want to look at them, and women want to be them.
... i would think it would be more effective if she had headphones as well... i wasn't thinking they were anywhere inappropriate, it's just pointless to stuff your ipod in your bikini and have no way to listen to it. I vote that's the only flaw.
There's another reason why this wouldnt fly in the US, people are fat here. really fat- i think obese is appropriate in describing at least 30% of americans- dont quote me on that, but seriously, we need more idealistic images to slap some sense into ourselves. who really looks like that? none of us...

At least we all now know what a "Czech Apple" look like.

At least we all now know what a "Czech Apple" looks like. Typo fixed, I was looking at the picture while being creative.

Apparently the tiny tubes that make up the Czech interweb are full of loiterers and gawkers right now. That site is coming up snake eyes for me.

Posted by: tom on August 10, 2006 8:06 PM

All I can say is I went to the site and I want a "Tasky Crumpler." I'll use it to keep my crumpets in when I'm doing tasks.
Fucking brilliant.

Maybe we all just got a sneak peak at a bluetooth equipped iPod. No need wires no more.

Posted by: pat smith on August 10, 2006 10:49 PM

come on people, is that really that would sell ipods to americans? no, it's ugly and disgusting, it looks more like a picture selling a bikini in a mervyn's california ad. apple has a reputation to uphold, at least in the country.

"Heaven forbid the American Association of Woman Against Bikinis Blatantly Plastered on Websites As Eye Candy group sees this and gives Apple a call." - funniest thing i've read all week!

I want to know what the copy says. Babelfish doesn't do Czech.

"It's this thing called political correctness."

No

"It's a thing called narrow-minded US-people and mass-paranoia"

And yes, I know there are exceptions... I'm not insulting here, just stating the facts.

Posted by: d. on August 11, 2006 11:11 AM

I agree, d. You stated it better.

If they're going to use a woman's butt as the focus of the ad, she should have a butt. I mean, nothing against flat-butted women, just saying.
