Speakers Sought For Diversity in Advertising Conference

adrants_bdi.jpg

To make up for all the seemingly less than noble behavior that goes on around here and to show we really do care about serious issues affecting the advertising industry, Adrants has teamed with Business Development Institute, producers of the recent Web Video Goes Mainstream Conference and diversity programs including Vault's Legal Diversity Job Fair & Conference and What To Do When Mother Is On Your Resume Diversity Career Workshops and Job Fair, to present a one day conference and job fair this Fall on diversity, a topic of great importance and one that was recently thrust into the limelight by the New York City Commission of Human Right's investigation of the advertising industry.

In preparation for this event we are seeking speakers who hold the issue of diversity in the advertising business near and dear to their heart and who have a vested interest in or a desire to see the industry explore this issue in depth. In light of the recent planned public hearings held by the New York City Commission of Human Rights - which may or may not take place during Advertising Week - we hope to provide a positive platform through which the industry can not only examine its focus or lack there of on diversity but actually connect qualified minority job candidates, with agencies and other employers in the industry.

If you or anyone you know has an interest in this topic, has played an active role in helping to further diversity and would like to be considered as a speaker at this event, please contact Steve Hall at diversity@adrants.com.

I am the former ad exec cited by the NYT and currently a talk show host on Black radio KISS-FM in NYC who went to both Comm. Gatling and Councilman Seabrook. For decades I have been a relentless foe of the "de facto segregation" culture and the "separate and unequal" media apartheid system erected by Madison Avenue.

Fifty yrs. ago, when the late, great Nat King Cole's tv show was cancelled, he said, "Madison Avenue was afraid of the dark." Well, it's 2006...and Madison Avenue is still afraid of the dark.

However, it has not been afraid of our consumer dollars and it has not been afraid to exploit and bastardize our culture and lifestyle as the creative juice for a generation of white copy writers, art directors and music producers for their ad campaigns, etc.

Long live Nat King Cole...may his spirit end the reign of the "Men in the Grey Flannel Hoods."
