Ogilvy & Mather Soothes Troops Prior to Bloodbath

George Parker had a bit of fun with a leaked internal memo circulated within Ogilvy & Mather last week following their loss of the Wal-Mart account to Draft/FCB. The gist? Pump up the troop's morale prior to the inevitable headcount slashing. A good read.

Hey Steve
Thanks for the link... There's more to come on this one... Lots of books and reels hitting the street, as we speak. Do you think maybe they got Ashlee Simpson to write this piece of shit when she isn't waxing poetic for Sketchers? Nahh, more likely a fucking MBA!
Cheers/George

It won't stay long at DRAFT FCB. Look at DRAFT's history. They are great at winning new business but horrible at keeping it. They have the opposite problem that Leo does. Leo can't win anything new, but what they have, they keep for decades.

I felt a little like a voyeur looking at a memo that wasn't supposed to made public, but I'm glad to see it. The problem with these big agencies is they created an atmosphere where creative work can't bloom. Think of advertising creatives as a band jamming some tunes. Imagine that instead of jamming in a nice, comfy garage, they're in some recording studio with executives breathing down their necks and technicians monitoring every note they play. See where I'm getting?

Why is George Parker a hero on this one? He's a washed up old fucker who takes joy in bashing the industry. It's soooooo easy to sit out in bumfuck where ever he lives and hurl bombs. It's so sad that we take joy in people being put out of work. Shame on Parker and shame on anyone who cheers him on.
