Miller Lite Is Not For Stupid People

miller_chant.jpg

For some reason, Miller Lite thinks it's beer is only for smart people. Or at least that's what Crispin Porter + Bogusky wanted Miller Lite and the rest of us to think as we watch this recent commercial. We've all seen these idiots out and about and have always distanced ourselves from them. Nothing like being lumped together with a bunch of chanting idiots...especially when a beautiful bartender mistakenly thinks you're one of the buffoons.

The chanting fools are the exact same people who drink Miller Lite.

The idea was good. The choice of beer to use it with was not. Something like Heineken or Amstel Light probably would've been more appropriate...

the chanting fools seem like more fun.

Takes to long to get to payoff. Guy at the end is the same approach Sam Adams tried with their boring-ass “Always a good decision” series. (Brand icon with as much life as a statue and dominatrix bartendress “Ve have 200 kinds uv beir.”) At least now SA got smart and went back to their original homespun approach that built the brand. As for Crispin, I like the Miller High Life spots better with the delivery guy taking back the beer. Even though they stopped working with Miller, supposedly sales are up in those markets where the MHL ads ran.

Thanks for the heads-up. Now I know to turn the channel. Maybe the "smart/independent" idea is good, but it's smothered in a bunch of extremely annoying guys.

I sincerely doubt many people will still be watching when they finally get to the product.

"it's beer"? I hoped that people in and into advertising can speak and write proper English before anything else. Sorry, but this is too common a mistake to pass, and not a typo that can be excused online. While here, I'm also thinking full RSS feed; why not?

Wasn't this one of the post-CPB ads? Please tell me it is.
