Because Ad Monkeys Really Should Start Early

iam-high-logo.jpg

The New York City Department of Education has approved the first-ever advertising and media public high school: The High School for Innovation in Advertising and Media. For short it will be called I.AM High, which ... speaks for itself. (Are you guys fucking kidding?)

I.AM High School will be situated with two other small high schools on the Canarsie High School campus. For the next several months it will be recruiting students and staff, developing a curriculum, and building outreach.

The school's mission is to equip students for ad and media careers with a strong portfolio and "an impressive resume." (Printing I.AM High, 4.0 under "High school education" -- guaranteed whiplash effect.)

Come to think of it...we do need more robots.

I like the improper comma use on their website. How about hiring a copy editor for this endeavor?

On the other hand, not a bad idea for the handful of kids who can bypass college and go straight to ad school. If they also live in New York.

I suppose, but a big part of being good creatively is understanding a wide variety of subjects that come with a balanced education.

A trade school like that seems like a good way curtail a wider view of the world.

yeah, too bad canarsie is at the end of brooklyn and in order to access it you need to take two trains and a bus.

that should be a real draw to undermotivated new york high schoolers who aspire to a future career in slacking of in advertising.

The school is a great idea. I'm a little jealous not receive the same opportunity, but what the hey. Advertising does take a similiar, non-biased personality as journalism does. I lack faith for the outcome. Just send me the check and I'll send you a greeting card for the charity. Same dif.
