'Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis' Brings Garish Colors Out in Soccer Match

Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis, a movie that plays on southern French stereotypes about northerners (the "Ch'tis"), beat France's beloved La Grande Vadrouille record at the box office with over 17 million views, according to Gael Clouzard of Influencia.net.

Those that don't know what it means to be a Ch'ti got a quick education at a soccer match involving northerner team Lens, when a group unrolled a banner reading "Pedophiles, unemployed and inbred, bienvenue chez les Ch'tis."

Ohhh. So being a Ch'ti is kinda like being a redneck on South Park. Got it.

Anywho, Lens fans got royally pissed. The message incited a manhunt for the offending banner-toters (the culprits: KOP Boulogne), and the mayor of Lens wants a game rematch. Because now, it's an "affair of state."

Hrm. Way to lose gracefully, man. If Sarkozy says "screw you" (and with a wife like this one, he's definitely got better things to do), what then? Is half of France gonna secede from the Union?

bonjour à tous!

what a surprise to read something about the movie "bienvenue chez les Ch'tis" it means you have a eye everywhere around the world...
but you make a mystake. That movie has not beat yet Titanic but the other great french movie call "La Grande Vadrouille" with the unbelievable Louis De Funes and Bourvil. With more than 17 millions, "Bienvenue chez les Cht'is" reach the second place of the box office but still at least at 3 millions of spectators from Titanic.
Titanic could loose his first place soon. But it is not sure...
