Make Your Vote Pointless, Join Cancel-Out 2008

With a bit of twisted logic, TDA has launched a get-out-and-vote effort but the whole thing's pointless. The promotion is predicated on the notion people identify friends, colleagues or acquaintances who will vote opposite them thereby each canceling out the other's vote.

There's the ubiquitous Facebook app, a blog and e-cards. Ooo...and celebs! Ashton Kutcher canceling out Bruce Wills. Cute.

Supposedly, it's to encourage people to vote which, of course, is a good thing but the way the thing is positioned, all the interest its going to generate is a collective, "who gives a shit?" It's no wonder, there's just 69 members in the Facebook group.

Alternatively, one could argue this is a brilliant defensive strategy which encourages everyone to make sure they hold the line in the face of opposing voters.
