Newsflash! White Club to Revolutionize Game of Golf!
If you're a golfer, your world is about to change dramatically. TaylorMade has introduced a "product innovation that will revolutionize the game of golf." Yes. It's true. The game of golf is about to go where no one has gone before. White. Yes white.
No, it's not a racial thing. Though this particular sport is full of all kinds of snobby crap in that particular category, we're just talking about the color of a golf club. Traditionally black, TaylorMade is introducing a line of drivers that are white.
To make this introduction, ad agency NYCA has created a commercial featuring the Sesame Street song One of These Things is Not Like the Other. The spot, which launched today on the Golf Channel, will display competitor's drivers one after another as the song plays in the background. The ad ends with a reveal of the white TaylorMade club.
"The R11 is the best driver we've ever made and it deserves something different," said Bob Maggiore, TaylorMade vice president, brand and product marketing. "Golf marketing has become so cookie-cutter, and we felt it was time to move away from the pack. By creating a spot like this, we've shown how this driver's stunning design, technology and performance clearly set it apart from the competition."
Apparently, the color isn't the only thing that's changed.
