Sometimes a double entendre is so blunt it reaches out, grabs you by the hair, shakes you into submission and forces you to laugh. Other times, such as in this ReThink Canada-created commercial for Mr. Lube, they just slowly reach over, wink, nod and utter, "See? We can be funny without falling into the gutter."
Called Dear John, the spot, as described by the agency is a "classic girl-meets-guy, girl-buys-car-from-guy, girl-ditches-guy-for-Mr.-Lube-because-guy-is-too-clingy-and-demanding...and too hairy."
Yea, that describes it quite well.

Now that she's a GoDaddy Girl, Jon Rivers can do anything, even support gay marriage in New York. Which is exactly what she's doing in a new commercial for gay advocacy group Human Rights Campaign.
In the ad, Rivers says, "All New Yorkers believe in fairness, that's why we should support marriage equality. For goodness sakes, come on guys,"
Sadly, she looks way less hot in this commercial that she did in the GoDaddy commercial.
We are informed this xtranormal video of an agency pitching a client is based on actual events. Having been in the business for quite some time, we are not surprised at all by the rampant idiocy, self-importance and downright sleazy behavior displayed.
If you haven't experienced a situation like this yet in your career, wait a while. We, sadly, guarantee you will.
Footnote: We've witnessed equally absurd behavior from the agency side as well.

In a refreshing departure from the ad industry's obsessive focus on awards which mean nothing to the general public, we are pleased to see that 180LA is giving a nod to awards "regular" people have heard of: Guinness World Records.
To highlight the winter weather prowess of the Mitsubishi Outlader and Outlander Sport, 180LA traveled to Ghost Lake near Calgary, Alberta in an attempt to break as menay Guinness World Records as they could in a 24 hour period.

WTF is wrong with people? Have they nothing better than to complain about innocuous moments in commercial which, if you ask any normal person, are just plain funny? Have we all lost our sense of humor? Our ability to laugh at a joke? Are capability to interpret slapstick humor? Do we need the Three Stooges to come back to life and give our society a collective slap upside the head?
In a move that is absolutely incomprehensible to us, people have actually complained about the FAKE baby DOLL being thrown against the window in the HomeAway commercial causing CEO Brian Sharples to issue - and this is another bone we have to pick - a lame ass apology.
