Kia Adds Yellow Bikini to Sock Monkey, Muno, Robot, Teddy and Mr. X

kia_sorento_sb2010.jpg

You've seen the teaser for Kia's first Super Bowl commercial, right? We've seen the whole thing. Sorry, can't link until it airs during the third quarter.

It's not bad. It's fun. But it's really just a longer version of the teaser. No real surprises. Well, except for maybe a lady wearing a yellow bikini in a hot tub. You know. These are the things marketers have to do to appeal to the stereotypical block head who watches the Super Bowl, right? But the ad does end with a focus on family. No, not that kind of focus.

Cyberbullying PSA Yanks Mean YouTube Comments

cry_dolphins_cyberbullying.jpg

This is a very, very cool use of YouTube and Flash technology. In the middle of a "PSA" for the plight of dolphins caught in fishing nets, the reaches out of the video window and grabs one of the mean comments. It turns out the video is for cyberbullying. Very cool.

Of course, you can tel the whole page is "flashed" but if you aren't initially looking for it, the technique works quite well.

adidas Meets Star Wars on Street Corner

adidas_StarWars-1.jpg

Where in the world would you expect to see Darth Vadar and the Stormtroopers hanging out with Snoop Dogg, David Beckham Calle 13 and Neil Armstrong? In a new Sid Lee-created commercial for adidas, of course. The new spot celebrates the launch of the brand's Star Wars sneakers and apparel. It's culture clash-licious.

Nigeria Gets Real Money From Fake Email Spam Scam

nigeria_mother.jpg

So Mother decides to give away $10,000 as a Christmas gift this year. Rather than spreading it across several clients and charities, the agency cooked up a promotion that resulted in a fake email spam that offered the money to the first person who responded with their bank account information. One person actually did.

Mother then traveled to the office of one Theo Delaney and handed the man the $10,000. In a humorous twist, Delaney turned around and gave the money to the Nigerian charity Forward Nigeria. The knowing reaction of the Nigerian woman is priceless.

YouTube's Goofy Boi Pimps Pretzelmaker's Four Buck Hook Up

goofy_boi_pretzelmaker.jpg

As you all know, we occasionally really love things most people don't. This might be one of those things. We just can't get enough of this work from 16 year old Goofy Boi who hooked up with Pretzelmake for, ahem, the Four Buck Hook Up, a music video that plays like an actual music video more than it does a commercial for the pretzel chain.

We're a sucker for derivatively simple, Owl City-like sing-a-long style songs...even though we never sing along. And anyway, who doesn't like a great young love story? Even if it comes in the form of a commercial?

In September, a Pretzelmaker executive found Goofy Boi's work online and worked with him to create this ideo to support a current promotion. Goofy Boi recorded the song in October and shot the video at a local mall the first week of November.

Give it a watch. And be nice to the guy.

Pilgrims Get Sexy Makeover in Muscle Milk Thanksgiving Video

sexy_pilgrim.jpg

Teachers, hide your students! The traditional Pilgrim is about to get a deliciously sexy makeover by Jason Reed for Muscle Milk. In this video, we are treated to a far less than staid Thanksgiving as dinner turns into a hip-hop rap fest.

Entitled Sexy Pilgrim, the video was created by San Francisco-based Pereira & O'Dell and turns Thansgiving into something our forefathers never would have imagined.

Change Starts With Your Underwear. And Office Nudity

green_underwear.jpg

Ever experience that moment at work when time seems to stop? You glance around the office? You notice every little detail? You marvel at the beauty of things? You are overwhelmed with feelings of goodness, righteousness and environmentally sound principles?

Nah. Neither have we which is why this is all encapsulated in a commercial instead of real life. Because in real life time never stops, there's nothing special to see in the office, details involve strange looking stains on the rug, no one is beautiful, you never ever feel anything but misery and most assuredly, no one's clothes are magically torn from their bodies...in slow motion.

Which, again, is why this is all in a commercial. A very strange commercial. A commercial for organic underwear maker PACT.

Strange as it is, it truly does make us wish there were days like this when the walls would part and we could escape into nature for a welcome respite from the difficulties of the day.

The tagline for this campaign? "Change Starts With Your Underwear." Perfection.

Walmart Thanks Troops For Helping Us Live Better

walmart_troops_christmas.jpg

It's never a bad thing to thank the troops for the work they do overseas. Everyone appreciates the work they do even if we don't agree with the politics of it all. Hate the war, love the soldier. That's what it's all about.

So it isn't easy to bash a commercial whose sole purpose is to thank the troops for the hard work they do. So we're not going to do that. We're just going to say Budweiser (it was Budweiser, right?) did it much more effectively with its commercial featuring the troops arriving home in an airport.

We still like the work The Martin Agency did here for Walmart.

Sony Helps us Boot Up, Log On and Experience Life to the Fullest

sony_vaio_feel_something.jpg

When you sit down in front of your computer, do you suddenly feel like you're being assaulted with images of the intensity of life? The wonder and glory it brings? The passion and desire it creates? Do you feel like your every sense is being given it most intense workout?

Perhaps you will after you view this new Latin America-focused Sony Vaio commercial from El Segundo-based Ignited. In the commercial, we are asked, What if technology could make you feel more human?" We are then pummeled with imagery Dove Onslaught-style. But the imagery is "good" imagery. The things we want to feel and experience.
