On May 27, 2002, model Jordan (Katie Price) gave birth to a son, Harvey, who was born with condition called septo-optic dysplasia which results in blindness and, apparently, makes kids grow larger than normal. Because of this, she plans to launch a line of kids clothing for larger kids. Of Harvey, who is now three, Jordan says,
"Harvey is really hard to buy for because he needs stuff for 12-year-olds. The problem is, a lot of it isn't suitable for him. So I have to do a lot of hunting around. We're not the only family with this problem, which is why I'd like to have a go at designing some clothes. I think it's something that could really take off."
To persuade hipster fools to spend $200 on a pair of jeans, Levi's has enlisted the help of Andy Warhol, the granddaddy of all things hip. Called "Warhol Factory X Levi's," the jeans are priced between $150 and $250 and will be available next Spring.
Without kids and still doing the Hollywood singles scene, albeit with older men because she thinks guys her age are too immature, Jessica Alba has decided to launch a line of baby clothing to help style-conscious parents make their kids look as hip as they do. Naturally, as with all things celebrity, a portion of the proceeds will go to charity - in this case, orphanages and women's shelters. The brand is set to launch next April.
Actor Ben Affleck has signed a $1.8 million deal to become the new face of British deodorant Lynx - known as Axe in America. Affleck will appear a campaign airing early next year which is said to maintain the tongue-in-cheek tone of current campaigns. Cosmetics company Flirt! has signed a deal with tennis pro Serena Williams under which she will become the company's new Guest Creator, a position offered to celebrities that provides them input into new product lines. Williams (or more likely the person writing her press releases) says she is a beauty junkie. "Now I am able to create makeup that works with what is in style. Creating cosmetics allows me to be glamorous and adventurous plus show off my flirtatious side, a fun contrast to my life on the court." Williams' creation, whatever it may be, will debut at Kohl's Department store in February 2006.
American Beauty, American Pie and Six Feet Under actor Mena Suvari will become the new face for non-profit, anti-smoking group Circle of Friends. Suvari, a former smoker and whose aunt died from smoking, will appear in ads for the group.
Explaining her decision, Suvari said, "One of the things you learn being in the public eye is that you have the ability to raise awareness about serious issues, and, in the process, really help people. I've chosen to get the word out to women, especially young women that tobacco is not glamorous - it's addictive and smoking takes a serious toll on your health."
The MSNBC gossip folks are reporting Mary-Kate Olsen may be speaking with Calvin Klein about becoming the clothier's new spokesmodel. Seems a fitting job for a college and food-challenged celebu-billionaire. Of course, no one at Calvin Klein is talking.

To promote the new season of CBS Sports' The NFL Today show, Concrete Pictures has created "The Pixel People," a campaign which features a bunch of animated characters in supposedly funny, off-the-wall skits. "The Pixel People" consist of "The Blimp Dudes," voiced by Two and a Half Men's Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer, "Footballhead Guy," "The Hippie Chick," "The Yuppie Lady," "The Cheerleader" and "The Football Family." The World Gold Council has signed a deal with Joss Stone, recently seen in GAP ads, to appear in the group's "Speak Gold" ad campaign. A four-page spread, shot by fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier, will appear an October Conde Nast Fashion Rocks supplement inserted in Conde Nast Traveler, Glamour, Lucky, Self, Vogue, Vanity Fair and W. In the ad, Stone will be decked in Italian jeweler Di MODOLA's gold jewelery collection.
