Hasidic Jews Sing Village People's YMCA For HDTV Service

1204dancinghasids.jpg

Here's something you don't see everyday. To support the launch of its new HDTV service, Israel's YES TV network with help from McCann Digital gathered together an army of Hasidic Jews to perfom the Village People's YMCA in the street. Perhaps it's just it's weirdness but we like it a lot.

Starbucks Advocates Gratuitous Hugging of Bears

bearhug_sbux.png

For its cavity-sweet Pass the Cheer campaign, Starbucks has opted to try warming hearts online and possibly on television.

In this spot, a bummed-out girl trudges out in the snow and hugs a bear.

Strangely, the bear hugs her back.

And stranger still, there's a bunny involved. We're not really sure why (aside from that it proves useful for nudging a warm drink into the shot with its nose), but it sure does amp up the cute overload.

Pass the cheer!

Denver 50 TV Promo Flattens the Funk

denver_50.jpg

Look, a bunch of douchey office cogs made of cardboard. Nice wicker basket, guys.

The spot, put together by Fueld Films, is for the New Denver Ad Club and the Denver 50 show, which showcases "Denver's best work smooshed up nice and flat." We loves it for its hipster inanity. Dig it? Cool. Play the paper dolls game.

Wouldn't a fat hairy guy in gladiator garb make an awesome kitchen magnet?

Apple Airs More Dirty Duds: Vista Runs Faster on Macs!

mac_vista_ad.png

This new ad for Apple, dubbed Misprint, was inspired by PCMag, which called the MacBook Pro the fastest Windows Vista notebook for '07.

(We have a Pro. It is indeed amazing.)

But even knowing by experience, some part of us perpetually pities the stodgy and lovable PC in these spots. We kind of want to hug a PC afterwards.

Scion's Little Deviants Trick Out xD

scion_deviants.jpg

Furthering its customization-with-attitude personality, Scion is out with its next Little Deviants commercial in which the little guys high jack and trick out a passing Scion xD transferring it from a bland, gray, wish-it-were-cool look into a tricked out green colored, rad rimmed and low profile tired ride that actually is cool.

Created by San Francisco's ATTIK, the ad was animated by Shilo.

Corny Surprises Ring in Holiday Spirit a la Ikea

ikea_holiday.png

To get people shopping at Ikea for the holidays (presumably to buy lamps, halogen light bulbs and bed sets?), zig put together this cute little spot. The punchline's no surprise, but the music cues just in time to pry a smile out of us.

Oh, it feels like Christmas.

If so inclined, put together a wish list to drop not-so-subtle hints.

Try Freelers for Kinky in Your Snack Box

antibreak_bedroom.png

Here are some new spots for Freelers, a snack from the fine folk who brought you Barilla. Put together by StrawberryFrog, Amsterdam for the Italian market, Freelers are positioned as little "anti-break" (as in, for anytime) snacks. There's also an "anti-break" challenge that will be promoted on MTV Italia.

See Bowling and Bedroom.

We'll tell you what -- if a bunch of assholes dressed like giant snack food burst in on our afternoon delight, we wouldn't accept their little crackers and let them tuck us in. But hey, maybe it's different in Italy.

Hey. Whatever happened to Corn Nuts?

Couple Gets Blow Job Courtesy of Sprite Zero

snow_job.jpg

We're not sure this ad actually ran but nonetheless it's good in the way that frat boy pranks are good. Unless, of course, someone gets hurt which we hope no one did in the filming of this Sprite Zero commercial (spoof?) So, what do you get when you mix a peaceful couple sleeping in the back of a car with a few guys who get their hands on a giant snow making machine? A big ass snow storm, lots of screaming and a car that looses its footing.

Sounds like fun. In fact, I wish that's what we did back in the day instead of my friend opening up an air valve on a snow making pipe at Sugarloaf while my ear was next to it making me deaf in that ear until the next day.

Visa Regurgitates Electronica; Lacks Rhythm, Leaves Blues

visa_rockit.png

This new Visa spot by TBWA\Chiat\Day is called Rock It. The slogan: "Life takes rhythm. Life takes Visa."

Like Visa's last attempt at holiday cheer, it's horrible and depressing.

Infiniti M Ad Lacks Flair of Latin Counterparts

Here is an ad for the Infiniti M that is not very interesting (courtesy of TBWA\Chiat\Day).
