British Royal Zara Phillips Continues Work With Land Rover

As a follow up to its original rugby film, Land Rover is out with another which debuted mid-July and has, again, tapped British royalty to appear in the video. In the new video, the goofy rugby lover puts his smarmy moves on Zara Phillips, the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II. Phillips, an equestrienne Eventing World Champion is seen taking her horse out of its trailer while the goofy dude tries to explain to Phillips, who, apparently, he doesn't know, how simple horse rising is. Philips just smiles but the horse doesn't take too kindly to the dude's smarm.

In late 2006, Phillips appeared in a print ad for Land Rover wearing a gown covered in mud with the headline, "Beautifuly Poised." The Queen wasn't all that happy about her appearing in the ad but perhaps she's had a chance to get used to Phillip's more "real world" endeavors.

Yawn. Lions Yawn. Dead Antelope Dances. Yes, It's A Samsung Ad!

To some, yawning lions who break into song could be interpreted as funny, amusing or even entertaining. Even a half-eaten dead antelope who gets up and dances could cause a giggle. Thankfully for those who don't find this sort of thing amusing, this Samsung video promoting the NV24HD only lasts 1:19. For the rest of the story (as some old news dude used to say), a visit to will give you the details on the new camera.

Parrot Makes Noise, Shark Spotted, White World Wrinkled

- We got to check out the Facebook redesign yesterday. There's tabs and room for more ads (I'm seeing TWO now instead of just ONE!). Also, personal information is intuitively distributed so you don't have to read everything from one long column. A lot of people are annoyed because it's heavy with the social media vibe, but we'll be used to it in, like, two weeks.

- For Parrot, Feed Company started a video campaign featuring a nightmarish kid on a driving lesson. "We're done, we're done! FUCK IT!" Heh.

- Shark sighting. Or not. By Mullen for the sharks and rays exhibit at NE Aquarium.

- New spot by BBH/NY and Partizan/LA for LG Steam Washer. It's called "World of Steam" and takes place in a wrinkly fabric world. It's weird, but not as weird as this was, and I guess sort of passively pleasant.

- Another Parrot thing: Parrot Not Quail. (I'm not really down to make a parrot the state bird, but we did make the Terminator governor.)

Enough With the Stupid, Obviously Fake Video Stunts!

The creators of this Mini John Cooper video must have been watching all those fake Nike videos while concepting. This joke is so lame and so stupid, it's amazing those charged with approving it didn't simultaneously barf and yawn at the same time. Even stupid people know the physics of this would kill the guy (and/or break the board) before anyone got off the ground.

Stupid trick videos are funny. But they have to be at least a tiny bit believable to work. And can we stop with the psuedo-amateurish, wobbly camera stuff? Even a five year old with a Flip video can hold a camera more steadily than the idiot who filmed this disaster.

Oh Noooo, the Atomium's Collapsing

Tant pis. Anyway, haven't we seen this gimmick (twice) before?

The video is part of a wannabe-viral seeding campaign called "Le Grand Souffle." Belgian residents, if you have insight on who's behind the campaign, we probably won't care. But we'll cover it anyway.

Tat Yer Teeth, Swig Vodka with Tim and Eric, Talks Stocks with Bingo Players

- Nonesuch Records redesigned its site so artists can "directly" interact with fans. Created by Sisu and branding partner Axiom.

- We were checking email and minding our own business when Gay List Daily suggested we put a cock in our mouth. "Or 32 if you're feelin' crazy." It was appalling. And then we realized they were talking about tooth tattoos -- the low-key variation of a rapper's grill, but just as expensive if you're fickle.

- ABSOLUT Vodka is doing some weird shit right now. Its current online video campaign features Tim and Eric from Tim and Eric's Awesome Show, Great Job. (It's totally off-putting, but you gotta stick with it.) "I only made cookies for three..." Bloody hilarious. If you're not down with Tim and Eric, you're making baby Jesus cry.

Castro's Unpopularity Attributed to Expulsion of Rum

From what I can gather out of these spots, the only reason people swim out of Cuba is to pursue Matusalem Gran Reserva 15 Year Old Rum, which Fidel Castro expelled in 1959.

But the high seas can be treacherous. A shark comes and eats the rum, then eats the people, and Fidel is pleased. Meanwhile, the people inside the shark party with their liquor of choice.

John McCain Keeps Adrants in Business

Poor John McCain. The dude just continues to be trashed online. In a new video from the Service Employees International Union, McCain is trashed for supporting tax loopholes which make it financially attractive to buy and sell companies which often leads to lower wages and job cuts. The Union calls out McCain's support of the loopholes by comparing him to monsters from old Japanese movies.

Writing on AdFreak, David Giantasio points out some of the monsters come from the movie Gappa, the Triphibian Monster in which monsters weren't actually evil but simply became destructive after being misunderstood by people. And in a seemingly Republican-leaning comment, Giantasio closes with, "Just like John McCain."

Google -- Yes, Google -- Premiers Radiohead's 'House of Cards'

Aside from being the first-ever music video to debut courtesy of your friendly neighborhood search and ad giant, it is also the first video ever to be shot without cameras. Only lasers and scanners were used, which is why Thom Yorke looks kind of like a sonogram.

Watch House of Cards -- better yet, "interact" with it on Google. There's also a making-of video that talks about Geometric Informatics and Velodyne LIDAR, the technology used to capture all the imagery in 3D.

Directed by James Frost of Zoo Films.

Bad Enough to Be Made of Yarn; Without Bones, You're at a Serious Disadvantage in Combat

Having watched an orange puppet space-jump through hipster internet companies via magic Rolodex, I figured my quota for toys-appropriated-by-inane-advertising had been hit for the night.

Then I saw "Crochette Doll vs. Little Rubber Thumb," which continues a really random milk campaign that I thought was mildly hilarious until tonight. (It might just be my current state of repressed rage. I bet when I wake up tomorrow I'll watch this crochette doll/rubber thumb crap and exclaim, "a rip-rollicking riot! TWO THUMBS UP! HAR!" But I doubt it.)

Put together by Bent Image Labs for Tribal DDB, Canada.
