PC Gets Crapped On in Apple Spoofs

apple_pc_spoof.jpg

Following the long standing rule that all Apple ads will be spoofed, a guy named Reece James has created three spoofs of the current Apple campaign that compares the Apple to the PC. They're charmingly entitled Crap, Porn and Sharing. Give them a look over at Adland.

Nice, high quality spoofs (relatively speaking), but I don't find them funny.

The real ad campaign to me makes Apple look arrogant and condescending, (although I like the Bill Gates look-alike actor). That's what Apple is not supposed to be. It's supposed to be simple yet capable in a way you can easily understand. If anything, I think this campaign damages the brand. I'm not the only person who hates cocky people that think they're "so cool". :-)

Not to mention them being poorly acted, poorly written, unsubtle and a little cringeworthy. We all know Apple is cooler than Microsoft. We don't need a gimp like this to spell it out. Sorry.

Agree with UH2L. Well stated.

BTW, we DON'T all know which is "cooler". That impression is just the effect of you creative types staring at your own navels (sadly, all too typical and reflected in at least 50% of the TV being done these days).

What's cool is getting your shit done well, economically and with minimal problems. They're each just a means to that end.

Apple swings and misses in this campaign and it's the one time they actually had something to say. The new macs will dual boot XP and os X, natively, no emulation. In other words the number one objection that people have to macs ie. not running the software they want, could have been dismissed in a puff of air time. But no, they had to spend money on telling us something we already know, macs are cooler. Big woop.

Apple is going down. They're quickly losing their edge in both software and hardware. They had to move to Intel for a reason. That Mac can now dual boot with XP is a sign of weakness. Mac at the moment is 99% marketing. Mac fans are suckers.
