Pepsi MyDaDaDa Designers Make Site Too Fat For Most
You know, all you designers really ought to be testing your Flashtastic creations on a "normal" computer with the cache turned off. After all, most people who will visit your site won't have reloaded the thing a million times thereby having it readily and speedily available for viewing. For example, this site for Pepsi called MyDaDaDa which capiltalizes on the song, took agonizingly long to load. And once it did load, it never worked smoothly. Apparently, you can send the song around to your friends, watch ads, put the song and wallpapers on your phone, send a pre-recorded message to a friend, get screensavers and upload your own videos to the site. None of it worked well. Of course, it could just be our crappy laptop. Oh yea, the whole thing wraps itself around the World Cup Football craze.

I loaded fine on my Mac which was unfortunate since it meant that I got totally crap site faster. Hate that shite song.

I'm with Adam. The site loaded fine for me, too. The size of the Flash file that is posted there is only 1.6MB. Not to sound too geeky, but larger file sizes are becoming more and more acceptable to designers and companies when you look at the statistics of who your target demographic is.
Loaded fine for me (Titanium G4, and on a crappy Verizon wireless connection). I assume the target audience is younger (HS/College) who are on lots of broadband sites. And with the Asian Guys, um they are a cult fav. on You Tube. So obviously they assume the audience goes there, and knows about their Backstreet Boys number, and well has a high tolerance for video. With that said, this target will most likely wait for the experience if they need to and will interact with it for a bit—not to mention upload their own rendition of DaDaDa.

What I like is how all these people with whizbang computers and high-speed links post all their replies three times.
