Sony Launches Blog to Chronicle Second Bravia Spot Creation

To kick off its "behind the scenes" follow up to it Bravia Balls ad, Sony has launched a weblog, mostly written by the film crew, that will chronicle the creation of the follow up spot. The spot will be shot in Scotland and involve fireworks and thousands of gallons of paint. Based on an image of a dull, grey building posted on the blog, it would seem Sony has plans to cover the building with color as it did the streets of San Francisco. Stay Tuned.

I guess this means that we can all look forward to loads of homages featuring paintball players and graffiti artists. Cool.

Hey-ho. BRAVIA editor here. Thank you for the lovely mention/attention, but I feel I should correct you on one small point...

The crew will be far too busy to do any actual blogging themselves. We'll do what we can to bring a range of first-hand reports to the public, but it would be a mistake to imagine a crew member lighting fireworks with one hand and typing on his laptop with the other. Health & Safety would never allow it.

Well, Ed, youo better check with the folks handling the PR for this because that's exactly who they said would be blogging:

"The film crew will be the core contributors on Alongside video diaries of the commercial shoot, the team will provide interviews and commentary from the set. Written blog entries will be complemented with images that enthusiasts can download and link to."

And they posted that release on the blog:-)

Fair point, Steve.... that passage is open to interpretation. A lot of people involved in the ad (including crew members) will be contributing via video diaries and reports/accounts... but they'll be aided by a team of web-monkeys.

Think of it this way... if you sent an email to someone and they posted it to your blog on your behalf, would you describe that as blogging or remote blogging or proxy blogging or...

Ed, what kind of time frame are you talking about for release of this ad?

Is it gonna be called the Chronicles of Bravia?

Hey Ed. I can't wait to see this thing in action. I had a similar thought just over a year ago (scroll to bottom)

freaky but cool

I'll never grow up,I'll never grow up...When can we start. This sounds like fun!!!

Well, hopefully this will be better than the "first tv for men and women" crap that's all over the place right now. A tagline that makes no fucking sense what so ever.
