Tased Guy Begged to Be Left Alone in The Iraq...For AOL News

aol_the_iraq.jpg

OMG! AOL did something funny! So where do you find taser guy Andrew Meyer, "leave Britney alone" guy Chris Crocker and "um...the Iraq" Miss Teen South Carolina all together in one place? In an AOL commercial for its new AOL News site, of course. Two other videos will be released and if they are as funny as this one, we just might forgive AOL for buying Time/Warner back in the day. The witty creative gurus over at AKQA are to blame for this brilliance.

Excellent. Hilarious. Timely.

One giant problem:

AOL is just as much of a joke as the three parodied in the ad.

OMG AOL found the stick and yanked it out for once.

this ad sucks!

poorly written, had potential but just blew it IMO, too over the top...it would have been hilarious if they didn't do the obvious thing, if they went against the stereotyping of these characters...something subtle

wouldn't it have been funnier to have something like the 3 of them talking, sounding educated, and planning world domination? Chris Crocker going "I do say, your Don't Tase Me Bro video was thoroughly excellent, the pawns are still watching it..."

or giving them a chance to redo their mistakes and a payoff like "life doesn't have redoes...that's why there's AOL News"

the ad just doesn't resonate with me, and apparently a lot of other people...the ad hasn't caught fire at all on YouTube considering the potential it could have if done better
