Barclay Turns Water Slide Commercial Into Contest

barclaycard_waterslide_challenge.jpg

So there was the Barclaycard slide commercial, remember? It's the one where a guy the office strips down to his underwear andhttp://www.youtube.com/user/Barclaycardcreate commutes home in a giant water slide. And, because it's a commercial hyping Barclay's slideless card, the dude buys a lot of stuff on the way home just buy holding his card near the scanner.

And, yes, it would have been funnier it it had been Donny Deutsch going down the slide in that Speedo. OK, maybe not but it would have fun to watch. OK, maybe not. It would have been repulsive and made us vomit so thank you, Barclay for using some anonymous dude.

Anyway, Barclay is out with a new campaign that challenges people to make a waterslide video of their own. The winner will receive a "once in a lifetime trip" around the world to the five coolest waterslides ever built.

So come on! You do all work in the advertising business, right? Which is supposed to be creative? Which is supposed to come up with cool, new ideas? So what are you waiting for? Half of you are unemployed with nothing to do and in need of...well, money might be a better prize considering your sudden lack of income but come on, who doesn't love a free trip? Get sliding, people!

This actually looks like a great contest idea, and it has an interesting prize as well. I just wonder how good the entries will be, considering a DIY water slide is not something you can just throw together in an hour.
