Ad Legend Neil French Gets Interviewed

Ad industry advocacy group ihaveanidea is hosting an event October 6 at Toronto's John Bassett Theater where advertising legend Neil French will be interviewed by creative superstars Rick Boyko and Mark Fenske. French came to advertising by way of bullfighting, Judas Priest band manager and a career in pornography. No doubt, the event, called "a night with Neil French," will be quite interesting.

This is the same event some odious little weenie who calls himself Odif has been plugging on a number of ad blogs --- namely, by challenging anyone with the unmitigated gall to criticize one of Neil French's ads to show up and confront the Great Man in the (no doubt copious) flesh. That said, I'm sure Neil's presence will make it an evening to remember. Too bad I don't live anywhere near Toronto.

I just can't fathom this guy being capable of fighting bulls. Nevertheless, ihaveanidea has really been pushing this event. I've never been to an ihaveanidea event, seeing as I don't live in Canada, but I do frequent their website, and it seems like just about everything they do has been successful. And it's Neil French, fer chrissake! That alone will make the event interesting, whether or not it has to do with ihaveanidea, and whether or not you're a fan of long copy.

And let's not forget Boyko and Fenske will be on hand as well...Those dudes are legendary in their own right. Shame this event is being held in Canada of all places. You'd think New York would draw a larger ad crowd. Oh well. Anyone know if this event was being podcast?

The good things about humans (especially pompous asses) is; They die. Neil French's demise will be applauded.

Fatuous windbag self-implodes. Advertising will have less crap when he's gone.
