Svedka Launches Futuristic, Un-PC Campaign

svedka_small.gif

In the spirit of Jonnie Walker and the Marlboro Man, New York-based agency Amalgamated has launched a new ad campaign for Svedka vodka which introduces the futuristic, party-going, fembot Svedka_Grl, built by the famed Stan Winston studios, and brought to life in print, outdoor and OOH, to brand Svedka as the vodka of the future. With the campaign set in the future, this give Svedka the ability to say anything they like including headlines such as "Svedka. The choice of the stem cell baby boomer generation in 2033, "Svedka says 'thank you' for making the gay man's gene available over-the-counter in 2033" and "Voted #1 vodka of 2033. Goes great with A $450 pack of cigarettes."

The first print ad launched in this month's Vanity Fair and pays tribute to those who participated in the Blue State Secession of 2032. Other work will hang on kiosks and billboard throughout NY and LA initially, then expand to five other markets. Certain ads are humorously location specific, for example, the ad addressing the "gay male fashion gene" will hang in the meatpacking district. Good stuff. See all the work here.

too bad svedka tastes like shit

It actually tastes like nothing. I think the NYT did a blind vodka tasting a year or so ago and Smirnoff red ($13 per bottle) beat all the fancy-pants stuff. Still, I like the campaign. All the blue state seccession stuff is funny. I can't imagine they'll sell much of their brew in Texas.

i am one of the models that worked on the svedka vodka campaign. no,not the robot.
anyway i would just like to say that svedka vodka SUCKS.
models were misled to believe they would just be background images at first, then once on set, it was obvious we were as featured as the idiotic robot. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes and mine was agreeing to work this job.
The financial compensation was a joke. This sort of campaign should and does pay around $8000-$10000 normally, like Skyy Vodka.
These people ripped off the models. What a joke.
I hope Svedka vodka tastes like crap and no one buys it.
Only at the end of the photoshoot were we told the exposure this was going to have.

Uh. This campaign is RETARDED.

1.) They ripped off the artistry of Chris Cunningham...and twisted it into an insipid, pointless joke of blow-up doll proportions.

2.) Oooh! Chicks in bikini's selling vodka?! Oh my GOD! How FUCKING AMAZINGLY ORIGINAL! (i.e. there's, uh, no concept really.)

3.) Svedka: Another middle-of-the-road vodka. Do we really need another? People who buy lots of vodka go one way or the other: They avoid the guessing game and go top shelf or they go dirt cheap to get blitzed for almost nothing. This is like the Britney Spears of vodka. Somewhere between Marylin Monroe and Anna Nicole Smith: classy...but not really.

4.) REALLY DOES TASTE LIKE SHIT. Might as well pay $8 for some Fleishmann's in a plastic bottle.
Want quality? Grey Goose.

5.) -See above posted comment by Mariah-.They rip off their own hotties!!!

This campaign is pretty lame. I mean... I don't care because a lot of advertising is lame. But still, this is lame. Firstly, it steals its design from a much loved video clip from almost a decade ago. Secondly, its 'un PCness' is hackish and trying too hard and not unPC at all when you think about it.

Maybe Bjork will sue.

haha. just saw one of their stupid web banners. The headline was:

"The taste that caused the baby boom of 2033."

Ooooh, awesome--incredibly drunk people screwing & pro-creating. How tongue-in-cheek-funny. not.

Actually, it make's me imagine all the guys in 2033 are Kevin Federline. now that's funny.

boycott Svedka people.

I heard someone say they liked this campaign and almost shit my pants. Unless they are going with the "any publicity is good publicity" thery and trying to attract people with repulsive, outlandish ads this is a terrible campaign. It is insane to think "creatives" actually got paid for this work, and that a company actually gave it a go.
