Volkswagen Wins Cannes Lion For 'My Fast'


At Cannes whether a campaign actually sells product is irrelevant. Though the new VW campaign from Crispin Porter + Bogusky did, apparently, increase sales, it also won a Sales Promotion Grand Prix Lion award for the My Fast character. VW was up against Adidas and its "Be the Ball."

Has Garfield apologized yet for slamming this campaign? I have never seen a clearer case of generation gap. I don't particularly like it - but the buzz and sales increase are hard to ignore. And the worst you can say is it might not have helped - but Garfield's random baloney about the first phase of a US exit was astoundingly uninformed. It's like he doesn't understand that advertising is for the target - not him.
