With all due respect to the tragic situation this woman is facing, what exactly do her friends expect to happen? You cannot buy a liver, you cannot effect the process of matching donors and recipients of organs. Unlike kidneys, no one has two livers...
Transplants are based upon matching criteria and viability. What is expected here?

I have my childhood friends from India who are doctors in USA. Will ask them.
Let us all pray.

To db; you can donate part of your liver. The hope was that if someone with the same bloodtype came forward and volunteered, they could be tested for a match.

I suspect they're hoping that someone whose relative just died but might make a suitable donor candidate would see this and step forward.

Sure it's a longshot, but why not try?

I hope and pray they find their miracle.

I don't think she'd want my liver
