Shona Seifert Writes Ad Industry Ethics Code
As part of her sentence for screwing with Ogilvy billing, Shona Seifert, like a school kid writing "I will not snap Sally's bra strap in class" 100 times on the chalk board, has written a code of ethics for the ad industry which is available for download here. Enjoy.

Fantastic. Essentially a thinly velied apologia for Shona's skullduggery, which she refers to as "sloppy timekeeping" executed because she's a "frontliner" who was then persecuted "in the line of fire."
Puke. I'm puking, excuse me. Puke. Puke.
A code of ethics.
Just say no when they ask you to lie and cheat.
And when it's your idea to lie and cheat and steal, stop.
"Frontliners" unite, stop using the "just following orders" excuse.
Guess what, you fucked up. It's time to get out of advertising.
Write a book:
"How I Lied Cheated Stole and Got Caught and How That Makes Me a Hero"
Puke.
A well written explanation of some of the tough things we go through as advertisers and as human beings. Also a great celebration of talented communicatons which made me realize how a legal mumbo-jumbo can be crunched into plain language, as only advertisers still know how to do.
Not everyone sees things as black or white, but some of us realize that the grey is killing us.
my favorite bit was where she referenced benjamin franklin
maybe thats because im from an obscure south american country.. and english is not y mother tongue. But, isnt all that "Code of Ethics" just a sum of excuses?
We found something very interesting. "Shona's Code" is strangely similar to the Advertising Federation of Australia's Code. (read: pretty much identical)
See: http://www.newcommblogzine.com/?p=230 where we analyze and post both documents for comparison.
