Unicef Says Put Trash in Child's Mouth

unicef_1.jpg

This is not right. Sure, the message in this Unicef ad appears to be "don't be wasteful with food and other items because there are needy people in the world who need things" but an open mouth on a what appears to be a trashcan open wide, ready to have trash stuffed in. Wrong message. Very wrong.

Is this ad saying that the poor children, are to be filled with ‘garbage’? The visual metaphor is disturbing. @_@

And by UNICEF! Of all names! Who the hell made this ad? This is promoting inhumanity.

You guys are crazy. The imagery is a bit extreme, i'll admit, but that's what it takes to bring something like this to ADD-America's attention. That being said, you are interpreting the message incorrectly. Think about the last time you bought a sandwich (or other food), taken a few bites and then just thrown it away. UNICEF is reminding us how wasteful we are as Americans and that the money we are essentially throwing away could be used to feed the hungry children that live in these poor countries. We've all seen the "it only takes a few cents a day" to support them but at the same time we waste so much more than that. I feel ashamed that my fellow Americans aren't getting that message.

Viewing the ad gets the message across. Very effective.

never mind the food - that poor boy needs some new threads! those tired jeans and t-shirt will get him killed on the subway way before he dies of malnutrition.

The ad is just alright - not too bad, not amazing.
