New York Transit Union to Strike, Holiday Ad Campaign Continues
Resident rail rider Bucky Turco points out the idiocy and irony of a New York City MTA ad placed in today's New York Times promoting discount Holiday fares by asking what good reduced Holiday fares will do if the transit union carries out its planned strike in two days thereby making fares of any kind irrelevant. Yes, my friends, what good indeed?

I hope these moron transit workers go on strike, and I hope they all lose their jobs and go home poor. Do they think they are truly hurting anyone by going on strike?
Since 9/11 us New Yorkers have gone through a lot. Is a subway and bus strike supposed to stifle us. Go to hell MTA and your union leader!!
Hey, AdRants - I wrote to the MTA, and lo and behold, got an email reply - looks like cards will be extended for as many days as a presumed strike will occur. Read below.

PS.- Don't discard your MetroCard. It will retain its value after a strike as follows:
Unlimited Ride MetroCard (including Reduced-Fare Unlimited Ride MetroCard) — 30-Day and 7-Day Unlimited Ride (as well as Express Bus Plus, Holiday Bonus, and Holiday Unlimited) cards will be extended for as many days as the strike lasts.
In other words, you will not lose any time on your Unlimited Ride MetroCard as a result of the strike.
Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard—your card is not affected.
LIRR and Metro-North Mail&Ride MetroCard—customers holding monthly tickets with Unlimited Ride MetroCard will automatically receive
credit for any unused portion of the MetroCard in the next statement.
