ABC Cancels Ailing 'Commander in Chief'

commander_cancelled.gif.jpg

In perhaps one of the biggest screw ups in a long time, ABC's Commander in Chief, after months of changing show runners, multiple hiatus's and changing timeslots, has been canceled. The show debited last fall as the highest rated new program on television with 17 million viewers. It was actually good too. But after show creator Rod Lurie was booted, Steven Bocho couldn't maintain it, former Lurie writer Dee Johnson couldn't save it and viewership plummeted to 7.5 million, the network pulled the plug. It;s unfortunate becasue the show had great promise and was on its way to success. Not sure who's at fault here since there were so many multiple changes but it is sad to see another quality TV show get cancelled.

Another sign that Corporate America can't handle a woman in the White House?

a big screw up? au contraire. unwatchable is the right desciptor. CIC was awful and deserved to die a quick - and very painful -- death. good riddance to bad TV.

Thanks be to the network. Gina Davis as the president was a little tough to buy. Gina Davis as a top of the line cather in A League of Their Own, I can swallow, but as the president, c'mon. This isn't a male centric view BTW, give me Carolyn from the Apprenticem as president, I can buy that.

Personally, I liked the show, and I think it had potential.

It's not TECHNICALLY cancelled yet, so if you'd like to see it again, tell ABC what you think:

ABC is to blame. Despite internal problems the show was entertaining. But the on again off again treatment only fueled greater slippage in the audience. Then, once rumors of cancellation snowball, the death sentence is complete.

Who wants to invest viewing time into show that it appears the network wanted to kill?

I've created a "Commander In Chief" Petition to bring it back for a second season. If interested, please visit my petition site and spread the word! Thanks so much!

It was an excellent, excellent show, that I least trigger thought processes, made people ask themselves some questions, and showed examples of integrity and lack of it when the consequences are huge
It's a shame if it gets cancelled

This was a great show mu favourite at the time. Although it was a bit unbelievable it was attractive because Gena Davis really nailed it. She played the president in such a way that she was intelligent thoughtful and decent human being. Look at what happened in the states where two individuals are vying for the top spot and low and behold it is a black man and a woman....go figure. Davis is the right one for the role
