PC Guy Puts Mac Dude In His Place

It's a rule in the advertising industry that All Apple Ads Must Be Parodied so it is without surprise that our friends over at Gizmodo have created several spoofs of their ow. This time, though, the spoofs aren't all warm and fuzzy for Apple but a bit more bluntly honest about those "dudes" who use a Mac.

Did they do the edit with a Mac?

I don't believe Gizmodo made the ads. I think it was the folks from "Best Week Ever" on VH1. I may be mistaken, though.

Best Week Ever is the least cool, least funny, saddest thing on television. Washouts and never-beens. Exactly the types that would have loyalty to PCs over Macs.

I have had Macs and PCs- I love them both. The gap is narrowing between them, and the only rabid PC nerds I ever encounter now who bitch about MACs are those sad gamer types with names like DARKLORD27, DOOMRULES88 and BENDERLOVER. Macs seem to be preferred by the most creative people I run into, but my PC laptop is a real buddy to me, so I think it's running 50/50 between them.

so basically it's angry, uptight pc-man vs. stoned hippy mac dude. doesn't make me interested in either. although if i had to choose, i'd go with the hippy. he's probably more fun. and let the pc-man do the checkbook. and the "ads" aren't really all that funny.

As a lifelong Mac user, I did find some humor in the spots.

However, it's the PC nerds I work with ("Dude, I just got a new graphics card and I can't wait to log on to World of Warcraft.") that are raving about the new Apple commercials, which I initially thought were simplistic and misleading.

And now that you can run Windows on your Mac...does it really matter?

I wish I'd got to see this commercial. It's removed by youtube as a violation of terms of use.

Two days ago I was told by someone I know that Macs are, in fact, a way of life. I thought that was just an insane implication (or was it said outright?) in their advertising.
