Chevy Malibu SS Commercial an Avalanche of Immodest Homage

cevy_maibu_SS_UAE.jpg

You know how some people are fond of pointing out creatives often imprint themselves on the work they produce as if they were the only demographic in the world? Well, that notion is clearly evident in this Leo Burnett Dubai-created commercial for Chevrolet Lumina SS.

There's the late twenties/early thirties jeans-wearing guy with appropriate facial hair and proper zip hoodie over a t-shirt. There's the over the shoulder satchel bag. There's the quintessentially retro, glass-walled, sparsely furnished apartment with a stainless steel refrigerator full of bottled water. There's the homage to the classic Maxell audio tape ad. And to complete the masterpiece, there's the inbred self-importance meticulously illustrated Fast and Furious-style with a little Back to the Future tossed in at the end.

But best of all is the ending when the guy comes out of his testosterone-fueled fantasy only to, thankfully, realize all is well as he'd never fucking be caught dead driving anything other than his prized Mini. Or whatever the hipster mobile is in the UAE.

Nice photography though.
