American Airlines Really Does Know Why You Fly

Apparently, American Airlines was on to something when it launched its "We Know Why You Fly" campaign a few years ago. We're told the campaign has increased awareness of the airline from 50 percent to 85 percent "in some key markets and among business travelers." Of course, "some key markets" could be Ketchikan, Alaska and Bangor, Maine but let's not rain of their celebratory parade.

Because the airline is so happy with its success, it's launching three more TV spots which go for humor this time around. In one of the spots, "Steve-O" volunteers to take all the flights none of his other office mates have an interest in so he can rack up his frequent flier miles and travel for free. It's not bad as airline ads go. As an aside, we do have to admit, the campaign's theme music has a way of soothingly drawing one into somewhat of a dreamy state. And that can't be all bad for a company in an industry that ranks quite high on the stress-creation scale.
