Gyro Revives Sailor Jerry Clothing with Revamped Ad Campaign

stand_ad.jpg

The late Sailor Jerry, godfather of crass-but-classy American tattooing, launched a clothing line some time ago. Now Gyro Worldwide joins forces with them to make the brand, "a working-class American cookout" (we swear the CEO said this), relevant to a new generation.

Designs feature graphics unique to sailor tat subculture: anchors, mermaids, buxom women and even tight-fisted knuckle statements on gloves. We like how there's a section marked "Rum Stuff."

Sailor Jerry's been making close for at least 6 years. Not sure if the Gyro tie-in is new, but SJ clothing isn't.

You're right. Sailor Jerry was launched by Gyro something like five years ago, and was a mildly popular brand for a year or two. They never really went anywhere with it, so maybe the press release is pretending that it never launched at all. But because it's Gyro, they can blow a snot rocket and it will get press coverage.

This is hilarious. Well, let's see if the snot rocket makes any difference in competitive campaign world. Snot rockets tend not to.
