New York Times Targets Bloggers on Site Meter

regularlogoV4.jpg

Brenner Thomas of Not Only But Also, noticed The New York Times has placed advertising on Site Meter, a website traffic measurement service that most every blogger uses to see how many people visit their blogs, where they come from and what stories they read. Thomas surmises its a strategy to get bloggers to simply write about the fact that The New York Times is advertising on Site Meter, as we're doing right now, to gain publicity among bloggers. As intriguing a strategy as that may be, it's more likely due to Site Meter's use of the Tribal Fusion ad network which serves ads to thousands of sites allowing the New York Times to reach a very broad audience. Site Meter just happens to be one of those thousands of sites.

This is a retarded post. "Most every blogger" uses Site Meter? Hardly. I don't know any bloggers who use it, myself included. Second, I'm sure the NY Times employed an ad agency who utilized an ad network which placed that NY Times ad on LOTS of various websites, not just Site Meter. The NY Times probably doesn't even know their ad is posted on Site Meter, nor care. AND if you go to the Site Meter website, they are a web stat service that isn't just for bloggers, but also for any website. Only Brenner Thomas and this site are stupid enough to comment on an ad they saw somewhere.

OK, Bitch,

In fact, most every blogger does use SiteMeter. Sure it can count for other sites but it's very popular with bloggers. And if you read the fucking article you would have realized I already said exactly what you said: that it came through an ad network.
