Free Hugs: He Said, She Said

"No! No! No! No, it's not a clandestine promotion for the band Sick Puppies, " our intern yelled at us. "But, come one, a guy in a video with a sign that says Free Hugs roaming around in Sydney, Australia just hoping to brighten the world with nothing to gain from it?" we shouted back. "Yes you jaded idiot," screamed the intern, "Not everything on YouTube is trying to sell you something."

Not convinced, we stood up and asked, "What about this little gem on the Free Hugs website that says 'With grass root marketing tactics we promote products and ideas that are in line with our core values and the FREE HUGS message.'? I suppose that just means the products and ideas they claim to promote are love and goodwill?"

"Damn," the intern who was now jumping out of her seat bellowed. "You pompous, unfeeling know-it-all! Do you think the only thing every human being thinks about is getting the newest version of the iPod?" "Um, yes," we answered.

"Fuck you," she screamed as she turned and left, likely to go give someone a free hug.

.... anyhow, she's wrong.. getting the new ipod is not all that we are thinking about.. we're also thinking about getting in that new interns' pants.

The hugs may be free but the t-shirts are $15.95. Guess everything comes with a price.

Uh... actually the FREE HUGS website is in no way connected to Juan Mann. Juan has actually been standing out in Pitt Street Mall Sydney for a few years now with his sign and has recieved nothing in return for his message. He decided to go on a FREE HUGS campaign after returning from the UK and finding his friends and family miserable. The You Tube video was created by the lead singer of the sick puppies in order to cheer up Juan who had lost his grandmother (who he was close to).

Thank you for proving that your research skills are poor and that your a cynical asshole.

This guy is for real.
I ran into him on the train going home yesterday and again this morning on his way back into the city - "Free Hugs" sign under his arm.
A very genuine, and cool bloke.
