Competition Seeks Top Ten Ads Worth Spreading

peanut-butter-spread.jpg

TED Partnerships, organizers of the famed - and star-studded - conference series that focuses on big ideas, predicting the future and developing "ingenious solutions to global problems" has issued a challenge: create an ad worth spreading. Now an ad worth spreading should be nothing new to the ad community because every ad should be crafted in a way that makes it worth being seen by many. Sadly, that's not the reality in which we live.

Megan Fox Reminds the Rest of Us How Ugly We Are

megan_fox_giorgio_armani_cosmetics.jpg

Like a Stepford wife crossed with a daydreaming porn star, Megan Fox peers longingly into the camera...in slow motion, of course...in an attempt to get us to buy Giorgia Armani Beauty products. This work follows a commercial called The tip Fox previously did during which she tantalized a waiter by getting dressed in front of him. It was far hotter than this current work which insist upon going in an over-stylized direction that doesn't so much sell cosmetics as it does hit us over the head with a stick once again issuing the painful reminder most of us are not and never will be as hot as Megan Fox.

Italy Unhappy With Lesbian-Themed Car Commercial

renault_twingo.jpg

A Publicis Milan-created commercial for the Renault Twingo has some Italians up in arms. Some are not happy with the commercial's lesbian-themed content. Defending the ad, Publicis' Daniele Tranchini said, "We wanted to create an advert that was original, enjoyable and at the same time not vulgar, and I believe we have achieved that. What is clever is that you think the advert is going one way but in the end it goes another - it's great, don't you think?"

Why yes we do, Daniele. Yes we do. And we just don't understand why anyone would have their undies in a bunch over such an ad.

Paris Hilton Dons T-Mobile Hot Chick's Skin Tight Body Suit

paris_hilton_tmobile_4g_lookalike.jpg

By now most of you have probably seen the T-Mobile myTouch 4G commercial called New Ride which apes Apple's I'm A Mac campaign. It's the one where the Hot Chick (naturally) tells the doofus (naturally) on a scooter her network is faster than his.

What you probably don't know, or don't care about...let's be honest here, is Paris Hilton was seen a couple of days ago at a photo shoot sporting a near exact replica of the skin tight body suit the T-Mobile Hot Chick wears in the commercial. The only difference, as compared to the more buttoned up T-Mobile Hot Chick, being the enormous quantity of visible cleavage bursting forth from within the confines of Hilton's suit as it strains to contain her bulging dirigibles

Fluke? Subliminal stealth marketing? Lucky break for T-Mobile? We can only wish. But, no. She's reportedly launching a motorcycle racing team.

And, yes. You would stare too.

Holding Company Revenue, Share Growth Offer Optimism

revenue_up.jpg

Even though U.S. ad agency unemployment is 11.8 percent, the big four holding companies are seeing healthy revenue gains this year. WPP reports revenue is up 7.4 percent for the first nine months of 2010, Omnicom is up 6.6 percent during the same period, Publicis realized an 8.4 percent revenue gain and Interpublic saw U.S. revenue grow 8.9 percent.

Advertising Age reports shares for the four companies were "at or near their highest points since the start of the 2007 recession."

It's not quite time to pop the champagne or shoot a gerbil out of a canon but, in this industry, we'll take all the good news we can get.

All we can do at this point is pray hints of recovery turn into an actual recovery.

Elisa Sednauui to Front Georgio Armani Spring Campaign

Elisa-Sednaoui-20090501103602.jpg

Never heard of Elisa Sednaoui? Neither had we until we learned she'd been signed by Georgio Armani to appear in the brand's Spring 2011 ad campaign. She's an Italian model and actress and is best known for her cheekbones and smile according to New York Fashion. To us she's just hot and that's all that really matters. The campaign will be shot by Nick Knight.

Previously, Sednaoui appeared in campaigns for Diane Von Furstenberg and Chanel Eyewear.

This one falls squarely into the "so bad it's good" category. It's to raise money for The Meningitis Trust and all your favorites are there from Facebook to Twitter to MySpace and more.

So do like the choir asks and retweet this post!
