Pure CGM Celebrated, Influenced CGM Trashed

jonas_moore.jpg

Factory Publishing is promoting a Triumph Motorcycle-sponsored computer-generated online graphic novel called The Many Worlds of Jonas Moore which stars British actor Colin Salmon. Viewers and musicians are being asked to participate in the storyline by creating their own adventures and submitting their own soundtracks for the show.

In a tandem effort we're not completely clear on, Factory Publishing has created two videos that trash media and ad agencies involvement with consumer generated media somehow labeling them unnecessary middlemen. While it's true some agency managed consumer generated media campaign have resulted in work that's far from pure CGM, these videos paint agencies as a sort of Hitleresque evil which stunts the growth of unadulterated CGM.

While we agree the best CGM work is truly CGM, untouched by agenda-carrying marketers, most pure CGM is devoid of any value in and of itself. We're all in marketing here after all. Let the purists do their thing while we do our thing. Purists are doing it for fun. We are doing it for money...because it's our job. Both can co-exist.

REAL AGENCIES SUCK BECAUSE THEY DO THINGS LIKE SLOW THE SCROLLING TEXT DOWN SO YOU CAN READ THE FUCKING TYPE.

(AND OH YEAH, THIS COMMENT WAS TYPED ON A 15" MACBOOK. THE NEAREST STARBUCKS IS 20 MILES AWAY FROM ME.)

I'm not so impressed with the worlds of Jonas Moore! The preview of Red Square was pretty lame. He needs to get out more..

Yeah, um...I liked this "Jonas Moore" story better when it was called "The Matrix."

:-)

(BTW, I'm sure we're all really impressed the this guy can dick around with illegible iMovie supers on a laptop in a Starbucks. Wow. That's certainly not something that any AdRants reader has ever done before. Nope. What a brave new world of CGM.)

Hi Guys,
PS. TMWOJM was written long before the Matrix and, in our view, is way smarter....check to see the new prevews at www.jonasmoore.com and also have a go at downloading the creative elements on the site (if you have done this all before then you will be amazing at it) and mash up your own stories and let us all see them! Can't wait.
Cheers. H

ppps...the scrolling is better read when drunk and listening to Motorhead - it was designed to make life difficult if you are over 40......
