Dove Draws Men to Forbidden Coves, Repels Us from Its Aisles in the Process

dove_noplace.png

With all the work it's done to court the "we are woman, hear us roar" demographic, we harbor serious doubts that this viral for Dove is the genuine article. Really, do they even sell deodorant cans like that anymore?

It certainly gets the point across (only amazing sensory deception could bring a sexual partner that, uh, close), but we'd be understating if we said the ad only made us a little sick. (And what's with that chick's teeth?) Then again, we really liked the idea of man omelet, so...

People Do the Strangest Thing When No One's Looking

hbo_voyeur.jpg

Here's (links after more) some kind of weird video campaign for some kind of weird new HBO show called Voyeur which basically looks like an updated HBO-style take on the classic Jimmy Stewart flick Rear Window. Distributed by Jung Group, the videos are fairly non-nonsensical but, then again, what most people do when they think no one is looking - the premise of the show - can very often be nonsensical. So, we guess it all makes sense.

British Bum Society Examines Lee Cooper Jean-Clad Asses

bum_cam.jpg

Lee Cooper Denim has launched the Gyro Worldwide-created Bottom Inspectors, a cheeky, British examination of the female posterior all to promote the company's Denim Xfit Lycra jeans. In the videos, British Bum Society's Inspector Flemming does man on the street gigs measuring up women's butts and having them slim into a pair of jeans while inside a "bum cam"-enabled booth. If your into ass, you just might like what this campaign has to offer. Links to vids below.

Upcoming Batman Movie Makes Extensive Use of Viral

batman1sgsdgfd.jpg

Catch Up Lady has a descriptive overview of an ongoing viral campaign for the the upcoming Warner Brothers movie Batman: The Dark Knight. The promotion began cryptically with a site that showed nothing but the Batman logo but then progressed to several other sites that encouraged visitor involvement to reveal the identity of the actor who would play the Joker, Heath Ledger. No less than four sites told the story in a very clear and intriguing manner. get the whole story here.

Gay/Hetro Video Mashup Sells...Hose Crank? Yes, It's True

no_crank_hose.jpg

You learn something new every day. For all these years we've been hand cranking our garden hose reel when we could have been lazily watching it neatly crank itself had we purchased a No-Crank Hose Reel. Thanks to the beauty of online video via YouTube, we now know we can be even lazier than we already are.

Now about the actual video that informed us of this wondrous contraption: it's weird. But, we'd expect nothing less from our friends over at Keta Keta who brought us the famed Make Love, Not Terror; Make Love, Not War; Vegas Red; the Israeli Holy Virals; the gay Holy Viral; the Koolanoo pool babe; the James Bond version of the Koolanoo babe; Network2's kinky voyeurism and the Propecia flying pool babe.

This particular video gives us a man who takes gardener out for a very gay day that's supposed to, perhaps, weird us out so much, we'll agree completely with the tagline, "There's a better way to make your gardener happy," and go run out and buy a No-Crank Hose Reel.

Axe Does More Bom Chicka Blah Blah

axe_bom_restaurant.jpg

We are not a fan of Axe's new "Bom Chicka Wah Wah" thing but since we're not Bob Garfield who claims he's always right when he reviews commercial work, we're gonna let you have a look and decide for yourselves. We will say with rampant rebellion against the stuff trickling up from the hallways of high schools across America from girls who can't stand guys who wear the stuff and end up smelling like they just finished a shift at a Macy's fragrance counter, this current idiocy isn't going to help matters much. Oops, that was an opinion, wasn't it? Sorry.

Oh and the two videos here and here are supposed to be part of one of them new fangled viral campaign thingies everyone's been talking so much about. Call us crazy but doesn't something have to "go viral" before it can be labeled viral? We really need a new term here.

Little Lad Does Candy Dance

little_lad.jpg

We're sure we don't need to explain why we're weirded out by I Am a Little Lad from Starburst, an effort to promote their new Berries n' Creme candy. Thrown together by TBWA/Chiat/Day, New York, the video features a little man who appears to secretly hate life but remains gung-ho long enough to teach us how to do the dance his mother made him perform in exchange for berries and creme.

We learned the hard way that when children are made to dance against their will, they maintain the tradition out of a unique kind of sadism. Nonetheless, the berries n' creme dance is fun and you can bet we forced a few new underlings to memorize the moves before we relinquished control and let them go home.

Lest you think we're pure evil, the little lad did spawn a number of followers who learned the catchy hop voluntarily.

Over-Achieving Viral Makes CD Look a Fool, All While Generating Zero Site Visits

prof_smashing_phone.jpg

This time last year Jonathan Schoenberg of TDA Advertising & Design conducted a guest lecture in Boulder, CO and smashed the disruptive cell phone of a student with hardly a pause in his sentence. Naturally, somebody recorded it.

The video is startling but not nearly as exciting as the one of the UCLA student getting repeatedly tased. Even so, in 12 months it's made multiple public TV and news cameos on ABC Nightly News, MSNBC, CNN and O'Reilly Factor, not even counting appearances in New Zealand and Canada. To date it straddles nearly 3 million views and is the 16th most-discussed video ever.

Youtube Awards Yield New Blogebrities

mixed_nuts.jpg

Youtube's 2006 video awards is over and winners are receiving a reception once experienced only by winners of MTV's VMA in the early '90's. The breakdowns follow.

OK Go wins Most Creative for Here It Goes Again, closely followed by Where the Hell is Matt? Why that deserves "Most Creative" we'll never know, but whatever. Apparently the universe awards gamers who dance and civil engineers who sing in equal measures of WTF.
